Description

In this competitive improv class, students will sharpen their quick-thinking skills and creativity in a fun, high-energy environment, all while training to compete as a team. This class is specifically designed to prepare students for the exciting world of competitive improv, where they will learn the art of unscripted performance, teamwork, and storytelling under pressure. Through a series of games, exercises, and challenges, students will develop the skills needed to create engaging, spontaneous performances while working cohesively as a team. Emphasis will be placed on listening, timing, adaptability, and the ability to collaborate with others to build strong, dynamic scenes—essential elements for excelling in improv competitions.  Students will also learn the key principles of improv, such as yes, and (accepting and building on others' ideas) and making strong choices, while building their confidence and stage presence. The class will focus on team-building techniques and strategies that will allow students to work seamlessly together in a competitive setting. As they progress, they will refine their performance skills and learn how to navigate the unique dynamics of competing against other improv teams. By the end of the course, students will have trained as a cohesive improv team, ready to take on competitive challenges with creativity, humor, and collaboration.

Location Notes:

There are entrances to the church on Woodland Ave/4th St./Craycroft Rd.. Please park in rear parking lot and walk your student onto church grounds. The site coordinator will be located at the ramada for you to sign in/out.
