Description

This monologues class is designed for students eager to sharpen their acting skills and explore the art of performing solo pieces for a competitive stage, or have a piece prepared for their next audition. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or new to the competition scene, this class will provide the foundation needed to succeed. Students will learn how to select a dynamic monologue, break down the text, and develop a character with depth and authenticity. The class will focus on key techniques such as vocal control, physicality, emotional range, and strong storytelling, all of which are essential for a standout performance.  Class objectives include improving script analysis, building strong character choices, and mastering the emotional arc of a monologue. Students will also work on developing their confidence, stage presence, and ability to engage an audience. In addition, participants will receive personalized feedback and coaching, preparing them for potential competition and giving them the tools to excel. By the end of the session, students will have polished a competitive monologue, a better understanding of the competition process, and the readiness to take the stage with poise and professionalism—whether at CYT’s National Expo (fingers crossed!) or any future performance opportunity.
